The Internal Medicine physicians at Graybill Medical Group are dedicated to adult medicine. Unlike Family Practitioners, Internists do not treat children or do surgery. All physicians have completed in-depth training in the prevention and treatment of adult diseases and are Board- certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine.
As primary care providers internists excel in disease prevention and treat a wide range of illnesses ranging from the common cold to complex diseases such as heart and lung disease, diabetes, and cancer. Internal Medicine physicians specialize in providing and coordinating inpatient hospital care. Please see Hospitalist Program below. At Graybill Medical Group, Internists and Family Practitioners work together to provide high quality, total patient care.
Graybill Medical Group Hospitalist Program
Graybill Medical Group and its Physicians have established a Hospitalist Program for inpatients at Palomar Medical Center only. The Medical Group’s Internal Medicine Department serves as Hospitalists for the patients who are cared for by our family practice and internal medicine primary care providers.
Recognizing the need to provide quality medical care, our physicians found it difficult to provide and coordinate inpatient care while maintaining their obligations and responsibilities to their patients in their office practice. As a result the Medical Group has found that an inpatient Hospitalist program provides you daily consistency of care and careful coordination of any care you will need beyond the hospital setting.
If you are admitted to the hospital by your primary care physician, or the on call physician, the admitting physician will notify our Hospitalist who will assume and coordinate your care during the remainder of your hospital stay.
Our program goals for our Hospitalist program include:
• Improving the quality of inpatient hospital care.
• Assure the coordination of specialist medical care in the hospital setting.
• Provide more effective communication with family members.
• Improve overall patient satisfaction with their care during the hospital stay.
